We do not, however, deal in the cheapest parts. We've looked at the price differences between low-end components and those that are in the mid-tier, and we've found that the savings are not worth the drop in quality. For example - a Western Digital 80 gigabyte IDE hard drive comes in two flavors. The first is the lower end WD800-BB, which has 2 megabytes of cache and carries a one year warranty and retails at $110.40. The second is the WD800-JB, which has 8 megabytes of cache and carries a three year warranty and retails at  $118.40. For $8.00 more you get a faster drive with two years more warranty - so you can see why we don't bother with the lesser drive.

We apply this practice to all our parts. When we build a custom system, we strive for the best value for your money. What we've come up with is a base system that runs at about $950.00, but stands up to the "brand name" systems that go for $1500.00 or more. We do not deal in the $400-$600 cheap systems like you see advertised on television, since we know that you're throwing away money on very cheap components.
